The Katy Development Authority of Katy, Texas has announced that the area is set to receive a new lakefront destination anchored by the region’s first full-service conference center hotel. Poised to become a hub for entertainment, culture, and community, the forthcoming Katy Boardwalk District will also be home to luxury loft residences, entertainment venues, and a 90-acre nature preserve.
Designed by Gensler in collaboration with Houston-based KDW, the conference center hotel is set to open in fall 2021, with construction kicking off in fall 2019. Branding for the hotel is slated to be revealed in early 2019. Operated by Benchmark Global Hospitality, the hotel will be home to nearly 300 guestrooms, a signature restaurant, bar, pool, and fitness center. The onsite conference center will span at least 43,000 square feet.
The Katy Boardwalk District will be rounded out with nearly 155,000 square feet of retail and dining as well as 60,000 square feet of Class A office space, also designed by Gensler. Construction on the retail phase will begin in late 2019.
