In partnership with FJM Property, COMO Hotels and Resorts has opened its first Australian property, COMO The Treasury in Perth, which joins the group’s 12 other global locations.
The hotel is located in the city’s central business district within a new artisanal precinct dubbed the Cathedral Square Development. This renovated heritage site is home to a series of historic structures, known locally as State Buildings, which were once home to a town hall, post office, land-titles office, and treasury. The buildings sat unused for more than 20 years before construction began in 2012.
Designed by Singapore-based Kerry Hill Architects (KHA), the hotel was converted from a historic 19th-century frame, which was updated and restored with reinstalled dormer windows, rooftop copper trimmings, and a façade that was stripped back to reveal the original surface. Contemporary interiors include 48 guestrooms and suites that average an estimated 753 square feet and feature bespoke European furniture, large windows, and en-suite bathrooms with freestanding tubs, twin vanities, and travertine stone tiles.
Hotel F&B outlets include Wildflower, a rooftop restaurant overlooking Swan River; the ground-floor Post eatery; and the Treasury Lounge and Bar.
Additional amenities include event and meeting facilities, a heated indoor pool, and the brand’s signature COMO Shambhala Urban Escape spa and wellness center.
