Kimpton has made its debut in the UK for the first time with the opening of the Kimpton Fitzroy London. Located at the threshold of Russell Square in the central Bloomsbury neighborhood, the hotel is housed within a late-Victorian structure that also evokes a quirky, modern sensibility. The former Principal LondonĀ property was recently purchased by InterContinental Hotels Group and has been reflagged as a Kimpton.
Named for the buildingās original architect, Charles Fitzroy Doll, the property has undergone a contemporary reimagining by locally based design studio Tara Bernerd & Partners. Crafted with a nod to British heritage, the hotel provides a reprieve from bustling central London with spaces like the interior courtyard known as Palm Court. Each of the Fitzroy’s three F&B spaces are designed by fellow London-based design firm Russell Sage Studio, including the all-day seafood concept Neptune, which radiates a relaxed style. The 1920s-inspired cocktail space Fitzās is featured along with the coffee house Burr & Co. A large ballroom, modern meeting rooms, and a 24-hour fitness center round out the onsite amenities.
All of the hotelās 334 opulent guestrooms and suites are designed thoughtfully with a bold and playful edge accented by unique, contemporary artwork and vibrant floral cushioning. Each accommodation is also equipped with Kimpton signatures like in-room yoga mats and complimentary bicycles.
