Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has completed the Shangri-La Hotel, Tangshan in China.
Shangri-La Hotel, Tangshan is situated within the Tangshan Kerry property, a mixed-use development in the urban Phoenix New Town area that includes a shopping mall and public park. Adjacent to the city’s financial and commercial districts, the site is just two hours away from Beijing, ten minutes away from the Tangshan Railway Station, and 30 minutes away from the Tangshan Sannühe Airport. Also nearby are popular tourist destinations, such as Tangshan’s UNESCO-listed Eastern Qing Tombs.
Collaboratively designed by Hong Kong-based architect KKS and the Singapore office of HBA, the 301-room hotel’s design draws upon its surroundings and includes crystal chandeliers, embossed metal artwork, and marble-and-wood carvings. Guestrooms and suites range from 484 to 1,453 square feet and feature a natural palette juxtaposed with green, Chinese-inspired paintings, locally sourced ceramic ware, and marble bathrooms overlooking the city.
The property also offers 34 studio-style apartments in one- or two-bedroom configurations, all with access to hotel amenities and services.
Guests may choose from F&B outlets that include the Horizon Club Lounge, the Lobby Lounge, Café Shang, and Tang Huang Ge—a Chinese restaurant with 10 private dining rooms and wood-lattice screens that open upon a chandelier resembling a phoenix. Screens walls within depict Chinese shadow puppets.
Amenities include a gym with yoga and aerobics studios, an indoor pool, a Jacuzzi, sauna, steam rooms, and the 19,375-square-foot Shangri-La Ballroom, which is decorated with crystal light fixtures. Eight additional function spaces are also available.
