Lark Hotels has grown its footprint of boutique New England outposts with the opening of the Cliffside Inn in Newport, Rhode Island. The company’s third location in Newport, the former Swann Villa has undergone a redesigned by Boston-based Rachel Reider Interiors.
Jewel tones and eclectic patterns juxtapose new and traditional elements that recall the eclectic and quirky spirit of the original design. Rich green, blue, and eggplant hues contrast gold accents in homage to artist Beatrice Turner, who previously painted the house black during her residency onsite.
All 16 guestrooms and cottages boast gas fireplaces as well as whirlpool tubs or spa showers. Unique architectural details original to the building will punctuate each accommodation, which range from the 210-square-foot Swann room to the 675-square-foot Cliff suite. Four-post beds, armoires, and ornate side tables are also installed.
