Montreal-based practice Ménard Dworkind Architecture & Design (MRDK) has unveiled Le Hideout salon in the city’s Griffintown section. Spread across 650 square feet, the salon occupies the ground floor of a newly completed residential structure.
The centerpiece of the warm interior is a large, pink MDF-wrapped concrete column. The spine of the design curves out across the ceiling where it is accented with notes of greenery. Shelving nooks and mirrors are also integrated into the spine. The design was achieved through computer controlled cutting (CNC) technology; a similar process was also used for the matching pink, laser-cut steel counters.
Three spray tan rooms are located in the rear of the store, while pedicure stations are mounted on platforms made from white tiles at the front of the space. Douglas fir paneling lines the walls contrasting a handful of existing concrete elements.
