Le Méridien has announced plans to roll out new fitness center designs across more than 100 branded properties by the end of 2017. The brand’s signature midcentury style will be reflected in the new scheme, which will be first introduced at the Le Méridien New Orleans, followed by locations in Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Monaco, and Paris.
In addition to plans from Le Méridien’s in-house team, Brooklyn-based illustrator and artist Dan Funderburgh has also created three new wallpaper patterns exclusively for the new gyms. Bespoke elements will also include locally informed décor, design-oriented track lighting, and midcentury facelifts for equipment cabinets and water cooler cases.
Le Méridien New Orleans’ fitness center will feature elements inspired by the city’s boxing history, such as vintage gloves that pay homage to the city’s legacy as the first destination to host the heavyweight boxing championship in 1870.
