Brown Hotels has launched the first international outpost of its Lighthouse sub-brand in Greece. Occupying a former theater on Omonoia Square, the 220-room Lighthouse Athens is the fourth Brown hotel to open in Greece’s capital. Crafted by Peppas N Architects to embody contemporary glamour, the property was “completely redesigned with [a concept] inspired by the former glory of the area, when music and the theatrical life of the city was rooted in Omonoia,” says Stavros Peppas. “The design honors the history and cultural life of old Athens.”
The façade’s original white marble was retained and enhanced with alternating vertical brass stripes that complement linear brass accents found throughout the interior. Dark but alluring, the sexy atmosphere inside is defined by raw industrial elements mixed with baroque touches and clean lines. Concrete walls and black parquet floors line the lobby along with marble furnishings, gold metal element, and plush velvet upholstery.
Lively social hubs like, an all-day restaurant and bar on the first floor and an expansive rooftop concept overlooking the city, will be joined by an onsite nightclub to further entice travelers and locals. The rooftop also features a pool, loungers, and hot tubs.
Vintage wallpaper, mirrored walls, and chandeliers are showcased in each of the hotel’s accommodations, which are defined by a palette of teal green, mauve, black, and gold. Across four configurations, each guestroom is equipped with a walk-in shower room and an open wardrobe, while Urban and Classic rooms boast balconies.
