Arizona developer the Schomac Group will open Lodge at Nakoma in Northern California’s Lost Sierra region. The lodge marks the area’s first new hospitality development in more than a decade.
“Vision is contagious,” says Ryan Schoff, president of the Schomac Group. “We foresee a rejuvenation of this spectacular region—it has tremendous desirability as a year-round travel destination given its largely undiscovered beauty, abundance of outdoor adventure, and close proximity to the populous areas of Reno, Sacramento, and the Bay Area, not to mention the already attractive tourist destinations of Lake Tahoe and Truckee.”
Nakoma Golf Resort and Spa is building the 42-room interior-corridor hotel to complement its existing resort amenities and Frank Lloyd Wright-designed clubhouse. Lodge at Nakoma architect Cathexes emulates Wright’s principles in its design.
Raw and natural materials create a mountain-modern feel in the hotel; tumbled travertine, antique woods, stone, and exposed concrete floors accentuate the rustic aesthetic. Floor-to-ceiling picture windows provide views of the High Sierra and the eighth green of Nakoma’s Dragon golf course, and guestrooms will average 400 square feet.
F&B spaces include Wigwam Room restaurant, located in the clubhouse, and Flow Bar & Lounge. Additional amenities include a full-service spa and 18-hole championship golf course.
The Schomac Group also has plans to build a 13,000-square-foot recreation center and a 6,000-square-foot marketplace onsite.
The lodge is scheduled to open mid-summer 2015.
