Mahekal Beach Resort is opening December 15th following a $10 million redesign. The renovation added 122 grass thatched-roof bungalows, two swimming pools, one seaside Jacuzzi, two restaurants, and three bars.

Room types range from garden views and ocean views to penthouses and ocean front. Weaving through a Swiss Family Robinson-like setting, hidden stone pathways guide guests to the rooms, which are all equipped with private hammocks and outdoor terraces.
Inspired by the book GypSet Style by Julia Chaplin, Mahekal’s interior design is bohemian gypsy infused with Mexican colorful accents. Standout design elements include Missoni-esque fabrics in the eclectic lobby, bright orange Ping-Pong tables, and cobalt blue billiard tables in the main lobby bar, Boli’s, which will also feature artwork created with colorful, shredded plastic tablecloths.
