The historic Hotel Ritz, Madrid is set to reopen this summer following an extensive restoration and rebranding to become the Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid. Spanish architect Rafael de La-Hoz will spearhead the refresh of the 110-year-old site, while French design studio Gilles & Boissier will oversee interior upgrades.
Renovations aim to restore a range of original architectural features while accentuating the grandeur of the space with artwork from the property’s collection. The design of the hotel’s 153 guestrooms will marry classic and contemporary elements reflecting the artistic spirit of the Spanish capital. In addition to its existing 53 suites, new Ritz will unveil two new suites within the building’s turrets, both of which will boast private balconies overlooking Lealtad Square and the Prado Museum.
The signature restaurant Quique Dacosta will maximize its backdrop of the onsite gardens upon reopening, while the elegant Palm Court will host guests beneath an ornate glass canopy ceiling reconstructed from the building’s original design. New leisure and wellness facilities will include an indoor swimming pool, a vitality pool, a steam room, and an upscale fitness center.
