The Market Street Hotel is slated to arrive in Edinburgh as a stark contrast to the city’s traditional hotel market. Located between the elegant Georgian façades and the Baronial landmarks of New Town, the 98-room property will introduce a unique interpretation of neo-Brutalism mixed with Scottish heritage courtesy of locally based JM Architects.
Led by Dutch design studio FG Stijl, the hotel’s interiors will also evoke a sense of brutalism inspired by local history. Modern, minimalist lines will juxtapose traditional fabrics like tartan. Ranging from cozy to roomy, each accommodation reinterprets Scottish traditions through a contemporary lens without sacrificing luxury. Vista rooms and the Alba suite, the largest onsite guestroom, also frame views of Edinburgh The property will be crowned with a rooftop bar, which will invite visitors to embrace city views beneath a folded roofscape in dark whinstone from the seventh-floor terrace.
