Following the recent debut of the Minimix lobby bar, the Megaro hotel in the Kings Cross section of London has introduced three new “hip pop Britannia” guestrooms. Henry Chebaane, artist, designer, and creative director of Blue Sky Hospitality, continued his collaboration with the 4,845-square-foot hotel to craft the spacious corner studios.
The residential-style design is balanced with industrial furnishings and décor as well as top-knotch sound technology. Quirky artwork also populates the interior with cultural references that range from English bulldogs to Harry Potter’s owl Hedwig. Overlooking St. Pancras station, each of the three studios are drenched in natural light and feature individual color schemes inspired by youth fashions that characterize the city’s nearby Camden neighborhood. Textured walls of graphite and raw concrete are juxtaposed with 3D carpeting and ceilings punctuated with metallic splashes of paint. A warm industrial ambiance informed by corten metal flooring, polished concrete walls, and dichroic lighting permeates the sleek bathrooms as well.
