The $1.4 billion MGM National Harbor gaming resort is preparing for its December debut in Maryland’s lush woodlands along the banks of the Potomac River. Bold architecture and interior design take inspiration from the region’s history and proximity to Washington, DC. The property will welcome visitors with its 125,000-square-foot casino, 18,000 square feet of luxury retail offerings, and its 27,000-square-foot Spa & Salon, featuring a modern, sundrenched design reveling in natural views. A heated outdoor infinity pool will arrive next spring.
Drawing influence from forest and water elements, interiors by New York-based Studio GAIA are defined by clean lines, wood millwork accents, and floor-to-ceiling windows across all 308 guestrooms and suites. Rooms range from 400 to 3,210 square feet and each feature vistas of the surrounding landscapes. Also included at the MGM National Harbor will be the Heritage Collection, a series of multimedia artworks woven through the public spaces from figures such as Bob Dylan and Alice Aycock, among others. Designed by Ed Libby, a stunning two-story conservatory will greet visitors with seasonal displays.
Upscale and casual dining will be offered onsite, including TAP sports par, the Pan Asian-style Ginger, and National Market, a nine-venue eatery highlighting cuisines from around the world. Bellagio Pâtisserie will also provide European pastries and feature a 26-foot-tall chocolate fountain, one of the largest in the world. Nightlife options will include the indoor-outdoor Felt Bar & Lounge and the Blossom cocktail lounge, inspired by Washington, DC’s seasonal cherry blossoms.
Included among the MGM National Harbor’s 50,000 square feet of meeting space are two boardrooms, the 16,200-square-foot MGM Grand ballroom, and the 6,000-square-foot terrace. The 3,000-seat Theater at MGM National Harbor will include VIP suites for more unconventional meetings and events, while the outdoor Potomac Plaza features a striking fountain and views of DC.
