Minor Hotel Group has announced plans to open two new properties in Abu Dhabi. The Anantara Jebel Dhanna and AVANI Jebel Dhanna will be the latest in the brand’s ongoing expansion in the UAE. Aecom has been appointed as the lead architecture and design consultant for the project by the owner and developer of the properties, Dhabi Contracting.
The 60-key Anantara Jebel Dhanna will offer three villa types: 20 one-bedroom, 38 two-bedrooms, and two three-bedrooms. Two restaurants, a pool bar, and the Anantara Spa will be among the new property’s offerings.
The nearby AVANI Jebel Dhanna will feature 170 deluxe rooms and 60 superior rooms that include kitchenettes. Guests at AVANI will have a variety of dining options, a gym, and a swimming pool. Flexible meeting and banquet space is available as well as a kids’ club and an outdoor recreation center.
Relatively underdeveloped, Jebel Dhanna is located on the coastal neck of the Al Gharbia region in Abu Dhabi, near the ferry dock to Sir Bani Yas Island. Residential communities to the south are expected to serve as major feeders for the two new hotels.
Anantara has opened 35 hotels and resorts in 11 countries since its debut as a luxury hospitality brand 15 years ago, and currently has six properties within Abu Dhabi. Anantara resorts in Ras Al Khamimah and Dubai will also be making their debut in 2018. Fellow upscale brand AVANI launched in 2011.
