The former Park Lane Hotel will be rebranded as the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane this October, following a multimillion-dollar redesign. Originally debuting in 1927, the revamped hotel still features its classic Art Deco design alongside modern updates from London-based firm MKV Design.
Updated furnishings make reference to the building’s heritage through curved forms, polished cabinetry, decorative lighting and carpeting. Said to be the city’s first hotel boasting ensuite bathrooms, the remaining original marble bathrooms have been preserved and upgraded.
In addition to the refreshed 303 guestrooms, 43 Sheraton Club rooms will be offered with exclusive access to the Sheraton Club Lounge. The hotel’s 21 suites have been reoriented to maximize space and afford enhanced views of nearby Green Park. The luxurious Grand suite is complete with an entrance lobby, master bedroom and bathroom, living and dining areas, a study, and guest powder room. Each room is connected through double-width sliding pocket doors that allow for the entire suite to be opened into one space.
The Palm Court Lounge has also been renewed with sleek furniture and a stained glass ceiling to perpetuate a convivial atmosphere reminiscent of the grand lounges of the 1920s and ’30s. And in addition to a new lobby and reception area and the restored Art Deco ballroom, the Smith & Whistle bar will arrive alongside a new Italian restaurant Mercante.
