The 44-room Mykonos Riviera Hotel & Spa has debuted on the Aegean coast at the Greek harbor of Hora, the bustling capital of the island. MKV Design oversaw the overhaul of the property’s historic, white Cycladic buildings into a village-like resort ensconced in its tropical surroundings.
A sunken pathway winds through the site from reception to the elevated infinity pool and outdoor seating area. Glazed windows frame either the sea or pool views, while the lobby is conceived as an ethereal underwater experience animated with fiber optic lighting embedded into the walls. Installed above the sunken path, the laidback library shares its space with the multifunctional Blu Room, which is also wrapped in a palette of white and blue inspired by the natural splendor of Mykonos. In addition to the rooftop Pool Club restaurant and bar, Lafs, the property’s specialty, all-day Greek eatery, embraces simplicity and intimacy with glass pendants and loosely woven raffia shades. Additional amenities include the 5,400-square-foot hotel spa that comprises six treatment rooms and a palette of polished concrete finishes embellished with pebbles.
Bright, spacious guestrooms and suites reinforce the water views with a sleek design punctuated with nautical references like a rope motif that lines that ceilings. Highlights of the onsite accommodations also include suites equipped with heated terrace jacuzzis and bathrooms clad with white marble, weathered timber, and freestanding vanities. Duplex spa suites span the lower floor, while 750-square-foot pool suites boast a private pool. The three-bedroom maisonette crowning the resort is also outfitted with a private infinity pool and a fully furnished terrace.
