Slated to open this fall in Greece’s capital, the Modernist Athens is the sister property of the famed Modernist Thessaloniki hotel. The forthcoming property will echo the Art Deco- and midcentury-inspired flair of the brand’s Thessaloniki location with a design by Greek architecture firm FORMrelated.
Housed within a minimalist 1950s structure, the Modernist Athens will greet visitors with a sleek and subtle contemporary reinterpretation of classic themes. Symmetrical lines will be accentuated by sharp contrasts in color and shape, and a palette of marble, plaster, bronze, and black glass will mark the midcentury-style lobby. Dark tones and bronze details will weave a narrative of minimalist opulence across the public spaces—including the rooftop garden and an all-day café bar, where plywood and marble convey a sense of warmth.
The hotel features 38 guestrooms across six floors. Each accommodation is outfitted with oak floors, leather headboards, and artful, midcentury-style furnishings.
