The Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, California, has debuted its new look following a yearlong $40-million overhaul. Following the revamp of the property’s 400 guestrooms, the redesign includes the launch of the new Miraval Life in Balance Spa from Miraval Group, which houses 24 treatment rooms, a lap pool, spa suites, a boutique, nail salon, drybar, and tranquility zones.
Details such as oversized seating, wide-plank wood flooring, and blue and sea glass-green accents draw influence from Southern California beach houses, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows. New outdoor upgrades include an adults-only pool, a family pool, and two infinity-edge spas. Private cabanas are equipped with built-in music while chaise lounges and sofas surround poolside firepits.
Five new dining concepts from executive chef Colin Thornton have been unveiled in the redesign to accompany the resort’s signature restaurant Stonehill Tavern. San Francisco-based firm Puccini Group designed the tapas-style Part & Parcel Market and Mediterranean eatery AVEO Table + Bar. Other F&B options include the contemporary 33° North Bar, which houses a living room salon and outdoor patio; the indoor-outdoor gastropub Club 19; and poolside cantina Sombra.
Guestrooms feature a coastal-inspired palette of blue, green, and white from Los Angeles-based studio Rodrigo Vargas Design, and firepits are included on each first-floor balcony.
