Mountain Shadows, the upscale boutique resort in Paradise Valley, Arizona, is set to introduce a new luxury wing of 42 resort condominiums and suites later this month. The modernist property from the 1950s returned from its 2004 closing earlier this year following a $100 million rebuild. Scottsdale, Arizona-based Allen + Philp Architects will lead the design of the new wing, while New York-based MARKZEFF will oversee the interiors.
Slated to debut below the Camelback Mountain, the three-story volume will be outfitted with four penthouse resort condominiums that frame striking natural vistas. The resort’s midcentury style will be reflected in the new wing as well, along with signature elements such as geometric lighting and open floorplans. Guests staying in the new wing will have access to the resort’s many amenities, such as the signature Hearth ’61 restaurant and the 4,000-square-foot wellness concept Citizens Club & Juice Bar.
