Switzerland-based hotel group Mövenpick has debuted in Moscow with the launch of the Mövenpick Moscow Taganskaya. Local firm Front Architecture spearheaded the design of the contemporary property, weaving traditional elements and artwork across the hotel.
“Rich culture and history of the Tagansky district of Moscow and the Swiss quality of the Mövenpick brand are embodied in the interiors of the new hotel,” says Front Architecture managing partner Vladislav Spitsyn. “By using classical elements, such as handicraft motifs in the flooring with ceramic tiles, we have retained a sense of the identity of Old Moscow.”
The lobby welcomes guests with an ambiance reminiscent of a theatre or art gallery, outfitted with striking pillars, a large spotlight installed above reception, and brass mesh panels that contrast the graphite ceiling. Flanked by a custom brass installation, a bar anchors the space, while a restaurant rounds out the hotel’s F&B options.
Additional amenities include conference facilities located on the second floor and an onsite spa that houses a swimming pool, hammam, sauna, and fitness center. Each of the 154 minimalist accommodations are crafted with high functionality, equipped with smart home systems to enable guests to control curtains, lighting, and temperature. “The functional solutions that were used for the interiors of the rooms emphasize style, clarity, and attention to detail—everything that Mövenpick guests all over the world love and appreciate,” Spitsyn adds.
