Minimalist Japanese lifestyle retailer Muji is set to launch the first of its planned hotels later this month in Shenzhen, China. Conceived by the company’s in-house team at Ryohin Keikaku, the Muji Hotel Shenzhen will reflect brand principles of simplicity and function.
Located in the city’s Futian district, the hotel will span five floors of the mixed-use UpperHills complex, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM). All 79 guestrooms will be finished with recycled wood and appointed with Muji furniture and accessories. The ground floor will host the Muji Diner concept, one of several unique amenities including a fitness center, meeting rooms, and library.
Muji’s Beijing outpost is slated to debut in March, while a location in Tokyo’s Ginza district is scheduled to join the lineup in spring 2019.
