Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts plans to open its new Mövenpick Hotel Istanbul Golden Horn this month.
Owned by Akgel Real Estate Investment, the hotel is located on Istanbul’s peninsula 10 minutes from the Old City and Haliç Congress Centre, and close to the Atatürk International Airport.
“This location is not only rich with history but also perfectly located for the needs of contemporary travelers whether they are traveling for business or leisure,” says Ola Ivarsson, COO of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Europe. “I’m proud to say the Mövenpick Hotel Istanbul Golden Horn is our second hotel in Istanbul and our fourth hotel in Turkey following the success of our award winning 5-Star Mövenpick Hotel Istanbul and our properties in the capital of Ankara and the port city of Izmir.”
Loft Architects completed the exterior design and designer Sinan Kafadar, Metex Design Group partner, worked on the interiors. The hotel was built with recycled materials and energy and water-saving technology to meet global sustainable construction standards. Featuring naval motifs, such as compass and interlinking chain designs, wave-wood paneling, white marble, black and white harbor photographs, and lavish historical maps, the hotel décor is inspired by the Golden Horn estuary’s Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman history. Symmetrical patterned carpets were used to contrast with the contemporary furniture’s clean lines. Curvaceous paneling is prominent in the spa, and wooden swirls are used on the ceiling of the hotel’s signature Pruva Swiss Grill restaurant.
Pruva seats up to 146 guests and features an open-show kitchen, a 20-seat private dining room, a terrace for up to 90 people, and Mediterranean, Turkish, and Swiss cuisine. Guests may find drinks and snacks at the Lobby Lounge and Bar.
Each of the 136 rooms and seven suites has panoramic city or waterfront views. The hotel also has premium rooms available with private balconies, while the Golden Horn suite has two balconies and a Jacuzzi. Guests may host functions in one of the hotel’s six meeting rooms, and the Golden Horn ballroom can accommodate up to 440 guests. The Serenity Wellness Centre offers additional amenities, such as a fitness center, Turkish Hammam, saunas, a steam room, relaxation zone, and massage rooms.
