NeueHouse has planted its latest flag inside the historic Bradbury Building in Downtown Los Angeles. Toronto-based firm DesignAgency oversaw the transformation of the urban landmark—which has been prominently featured in films, such as Chinatown and Blade Runner—into the NeueHouse Bradbury. The coworking-social club hybrid balances the original splendor of its late-19th century design by late American architect George Wyman with a new air of modernism.
The creative and cultural hub comprises 25,000 square feet of open workspaces perfectly suited for collaboration, and features an Art Deco-style cocktail lounge. The interior is punctuated with monochromatic palettes and color-blocking of green, burgundy, and brick tones. White oak floors also span the NeueHouse Bradbury along with earthen limestone and travertine finishes. Both custom and vintage furnishings populate the space, which evokes a midcentury-inspired aesthetic that offsets raw elements—like millwork and exposed wood ceiling joists—of the original design. More than 20 fireplaces and 12-foot-tall oak-framed windows also punctuate the interior.
Additional NeueHouse locations are in the pipeline for Miami and Venice Beach, California.
