The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort in Puerto Rico has announced that it will reopen this October following a $60 million renovation. The property will also launch the Ocean Drive Beachfront Residences and the Atlantic Drive Estates upon reopening. Future expansion plans are also in the works.
The updates will impact every corner of the property, from accommodations to the bar. Puerto Rican designer Nono Maldonado will collaborate on the design with San Francisco-based firm Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) on improvements made in response to Hurricane Maria last year. All 139 upgraded rooms will be revamped with a light and modern aesthetic that reflects both a contemporary and residential sensibility. Shades of white and light blue characterize the design scheme, complementing ocean and garden views. Custom furniture like glass bar cabinets will further punctuate the interior. The two-story Plantation House will return with framed views as well as the St. Regis Bar, which will feature a restored mural from Puerto Rican artist Arnaldo Roche Rabell.
