The historic former headquarters of the New Orleans Public Service Inc. (NOPSI) will return this July as the luxury NOPSI Hotel, New Orleans – a Salamander Hotel. Originally constructed in 1927, the structure will introduce 217 guestrooms and a restored, modern look from locally based architecture practice Woodward Design + Build.
Ranging between 350 and 800 square feet, rooms will feature refined furnishings and locally sourced artwork. Bathrooms will include a relaxing, spa-like tile design and oversized showers. Among the hotel’s 76 suites will be the Power Suite on the ninth floor as well as four Spa Suites with spacious terraces.
Rooftop bar Above the Grid will crown the property along with a pool area punctuated with cabanas. The lobby will be home to the underCURRENT Bar & Patio, which will boast striking vaulted ceilings and wrought-iron accents that recall a Crescent City courtyard. A total of 14,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting and event space will be featured onsite, including the elegant, 4,000-square-foot Dryades Ballroom outfitted with arched windows, exposed brick walls, 30-foot-high ceilings, and a preserved 24-foot-tall crane and track. Five breakout rooms, a patio, and the private dining option PS Reserve will be installed atop the signature restaurant Public Service.
