Spread across four stone structures, NÓS Hotel & Villas has opened on Sifnos island in Cyclades, Greece. The new getaway is embedded in connection and a sense of belonging expressed through a design by Athens-based K-Studio that reinterprets the local vernacular. “At NÓS, we tried to bring out the qualities of a village’s composition. Intermediate spaces, cobbled streets, and courtyards create an intimate village with its main square being ‘represented’ by the opening around the restaurant and the swimming pool,” says K-Studio cofounder Dimitris Karampatakis.
Secluded courtyards, terraces, and balconies bond guests with the natural setting while also maintaining privacy. The rustic design conveys purity and authenticity, accented by abundant natural light and native flora that further establishes a sense of place. Arches and vaulted corridors characterize the project along with an earthy, tactile materiality that includes stone, marble, and lime mortar as well.
Furnishings, like ceramic washbasins and stools with woven tops, showcase local craftsmanship throughout the property, while original artwork reflects the strong character of the island. Ranging from 312 to 540 square feet, each of the 18 suites are equipped with outdoor spaces shaded with draped sheets.
