New York-based designer Adam D. Tihany of Tihany Design has completed work on a $100 million refresh of the Oberoi New Delhi, which has been closed for renovations since April 2016. Tihany’s update of the Oberoi Group’s flagship property was influenced by the modernist work of English architect Edward Lutyens.
Each of the hotel’s 220 guestrooms, including 34 suites, have been expanded to enjoy more natural light and striking views of the nearby Humayun’s Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Advanced air filtration systems are installed as well to purify the air inside.
Two new F&B spaces have debuted onsite as well, including the authentic Indian concept Omya and the rooftop Chinese restaurant Baoshuan. The rooftop is also home to the new bar Cirrus9, which employs a backdrop of panoramic views. Threesixty, the hotel’s signature eatery, has returned with a fashionable design that injects a contemporary spin into the traditional brasserie.
