The Ojai Valley Inn in Ojai, California has unveiled the redesign of its two spa penthouse suites: the Sunset penthouse suite and the Moonrise penthouse suite. Led by San Francisco-based BAR Architects’ director of interiors Tim Hepworth and interior designer Alexa d’Argencé, the $1.5 million renovation draws inspiration from the retreat’s majestic setting to create a rejuvenating atmosphere for guests.
Located on the private top floor of Spa Ojai, both wellness-focused suites feature sweeping views of the surrounding valley and ample natural light. The revamped décor includes handmade wool rugs installed upon hardwood floors, as well as abstract modern artwork by artists Tricia Strickfaden and Peter Zaleski. The luxe bathrooms are characterized by Carrara marble, deep soaking tubs, and nickel finishes. Both accommodations are attached to elegant outdoor lounges, which are also populated with custom furniture.
The 1,500-square-foot Sunset penthouse accommodates two bedrooms, as well as amenities like two fireplaces, built-in bookshelves, and a custom dry bar. Also spanning 1,500 square feet, the two-bedroom Moonrise penthouse boasts lofty 16-foot-tall vaulted ceilings accented by grand arched windows. “Having a long history with the Ojai Valley Inn team simplified the design process,” Hepworth says. “[In Moonrise], the tall milt-facet fireplace in the living room is a strong visual focus and balances the tall arched windows and doors.”
