The adults-only Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Golf & Spa Resort in Cabo San Lucas will debut an expansion this winter, including a new fitness center, VIP lounge, gourmet dining concept, and new guestrooms. Mexico City-based designer Olivia Aldrete, who also designed the existing resort, has crafted the interiors for the oceanfront property, drawing inspiration from region’s desert and beaches. The 47 guestrooms and suites in the Towers at Pacifica will share the existing resort structure’s minimalist elegance and organic details to establish an inviting familiarity and warmth.
Guestrooms will celebrate Mexico’s artistic culture with woodwork, colorful embroidery, eye-catching photography, and handmade indigenous shawls known as rebozos sourced from local artisans. Relaxing earth tones will reflect the geography of the setting in elements like handcarved wooden headboards patterned to resemble the sands of the seashore. Suites are anchored with a separate living room clad in contemporary décor, asymmetrical mirrored and wooden coffee tables, decorative cushioning, black clay accents, midcentury modern furniture, and unique Mexican paintings.
“My work always begins with an art piece,” says Aldrete. “When I designed the current Pueblo Bonito Pacifica resort, we worked with a group of established artists in Mexico to be part of the project and help create the distinct ambiance of the resort that reflected its location. With the new Towers at Pacifica, we have tried, and succeeded, to continue with the same spirit as we did in Pacifica, only now we are further elevating that design to the next level of luxury.”
A cream and brown palette recalls the desert and mountain terrain, while orange and yellow tones are reminiscent of the area’s sunsets.
