Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide and Chesapeake Lodging Trust have completed the $12 million revamp of Le Méridien San Francisco.
Barbara Parker and Miriam Torres of Boston-based Parker-Torres Design headed the renovation, which includes the hotel lobby, 280 guestrooms, 80 suites, and 12,500 square feet of meeting and event space. All now feature an aesthetic rooted in the hotel’s San Francisco Financial District location.
“The hotel now conveys the design and energy elements of San Francisco, and our location in the heart of one of the world’s most dynamic cities,” says James L. Francis, president and CEO of Chesapeake.
A coffee house by day and lounge by night, the new lobby space features a monochromatic gridded ceiling in reference to the city streets, and carpet depicting regional cartography.
Large wallcoverings of topographical maps in the guestrooms similarly portray local geography, with a palette of muted gray and blue hues highlighting the city’s iconic fog and location along the Pacific Ocean. Persimmon also appears throughout the hotel as a nod to the landmark Golden Gate Bridge. Every room includes floor-to-ceiling windows bringing in Bay views, with leather, wood, and metal accents adding texture to the visual experience.
“The completion of this multimillion-dollar renovation ushers in a new era of unlocking San Francisco through the cultural and culinary lens of Le Méridien, which highlights local cuisine, design, and destination-inspired programming for our guests,” says Brian Povinelli, senior vice president and global brand leader for Le Méridien and Westin.
