Pendry Hotels & Resorts has launched its seventh property, now expanding into the nation’s capital with the Pendry Washington DC – the Wharf.
Located along the banks of the Potomac River and designed by ODA with interiors by Toronto-based DesignAgency, the 131-key hotel was crafted with a European-style modernism that pays homage to the rich history of the city. “Inspired by the many deep connections between Paris and Washington, DC, we looked to the City of Light’s enduring legacy of style to express Pendry’s emphasis on artful environments and unparalleled hospitality,” says DesignAgency founding partner Anwar Mekhayech. “Taking a fresh approach to timeless elements allowed us to create interiors that are rich in history yet look contemporary and new.”
A living room-style lobby awaits beyond a contemporary façade, lined with opulent oak shelving, a vintage French Louis XVI Carrera marble mantel, and softly curved seating. Intimate cocktail concept Bar Pendry is positioned just off the lobby, awash in moody blue and crimson hues. Layers of velvet wall panels, antique mirror, brushed bronze accents, and a second vintage fireplace mantel compose an ambiance reminiscent of a speakeasy or Old World European parlors.
Airy and bright indoor-outdoor restaurant Flora Flora lives up to its name with lush greenery set against pale natural millwork and cane panels that exude a casual refinement. Earthy terracotta and sage green reinforce the greenery of the alfresco spaces in the dining room as well.
Located 12 stories above the Wharf, the Moonraker bar and restaurant crowns the hotel with dramatic interiors comprising a circular bar illuminated by a chandelier of cascading brass pendants. Bold black and white geometric floors and a wall of arched mirrors channel the Louvre Palace’s covered colonnade along the Rue de Rivoli in Paris.
Additional amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, more than 7,500 square feet of elegant event space, and the full-service Spa Pendry, which is home to five private treatment rooms, two eucalyptus-infused steam rooms, and a tranquil lounge.
Four-poster beds and deep curved lounge chairs provide reprieve in each sophisticated guestroom at Pendry Washington DC – the Wharf. Enlivened with a classic Parisian flair, accommodations feature crisp white walls and a calm neutral palette offset by arched doorways and round rugs adorned with jewel-toned floral prints.
