Set along nearly 2,000 square feet of beachfront in southwestern Phuket’s Emerald Bay, the Rosewood Phuket has debuted as the first Southeast Asian resort in the brand’s portfolio. The design from Melbourne-based BAR Studio—locally based architecture firm PMC served as architect of record—reflects the sophistication of a beachside estate as well as the diverse range of regional landscapes. Bangkok-based PLandscape oversaw the design of the grounds as well.
An environmentally sensitive design complements the natural surroundings, greeting visitors with panoramic ocean views above a jungle canopy. Abundant floor-to-ceiling windows and open-sided spaces further merge the indoors with the outdoors. The sustainable design is equipped with a rainwater harvest system, landscaped rooftops, recycled building materials, and the largest solar renewable energy system of any hotel in Phuket.
The resort is home to 71 pool pavilions and villas, with residential-style guestrooms that reflect a blend of Eastern and Western influences as well as contemporary and traditional elements. Expansive garden terraces immerse visitors in the tropical setting with outdoor seating, daybeds, infinity pools, and views of the Andaman Sea. Spanning 8,570 square feet, the Ocean House is outfitted with a master bedroom, twin bedroom, separate living and dining rooms, and garden courtyards.
In addition to the villas, BAR Studio designed all four of the resort’s distinct dining venues, which includes the rustic Thai concept Ta Khai; the upscale Italian eatery Red Sauce; the poolside lounge Mai; and the relaxed Shack. The onsite wellness concept Asaya offers a range of bespoke, holistic experiences across six suites. One signature wellness suite is designed to host small groups with dedicated treatment areas, a relaxation space, and Watsu pool. A 24-hour fitness center and three pools are available as well.
The designated wedding and event space, the Pavilion, includes a residential-style design, while the 2,600-square-foot Glass House boasts floor-to-ceiling windows. Outdoor event spaces include the shaded and enclosed Courtyard and the Garden and Beach Law, which is suitable for up to 250 guests.
