Parisian architecture firm Studio Jean-Philippe Nuel has completed Le Champlain, a fleet of six new luxury ocean liners for cruise ship operator Ponant. Named for famed explorer Samuel Le Champlain, the newly designed vessels reflect Ponant’s French sensibility for luxury.
Averaging 54,895 square feet, each ship totals seven decks that connect passengers with nature. Interiors are outfitted with wooden battens and screen walls, while the color palette is influenced by various watery green tones reminiscent of the sea. The reception area serves as the nucleus of each ship with elements including blown glass vases, a large rug, and silk lights evocative of marine life. The ships’ restaurants are adorned with refined lighting and cut metal sheets that recall marine flora.
Tranquil cabins imbued with soft green tones feature hallmark camel leather details, while the owners’ cabins convey opulence with horizontal battens and wall paneling emblematic of nautical fittings. Each accommodation is conceived with an optimal layout that includes a bench and a living area linked to a balcony. Bathrooms are outfitted with semi-glass screens to frame views of the sea.
