The Longleaf Hotel, dubbed as the first independent property in Raleigh, North Carolina, has debuted within a former motor lodge. The retro address was restored to its midcentury splendor by locally based firm Maurer Architecture and creative designer Joshua Gajownik.
Named for the indigenous North Carolina state tree, the boutique retreat hosts 56-rooms, in addition to its dual king suites. Evoking warmth with a color palette of dusky greens, salmon tones, and notes of burgundy; the interiors feature uncovered starshine decorative screens that punctuate the midcentury-style aesthetic of the public spaces in tandem with leather, terrazzo, and custom millwork detailing. A playful neon sign reading “Long Live Longleaf” now adorns the building’s exterior, casting a dash of whimsy into the expansive onsite courtyard.
