A trio of hotels in Colorado and Utah are unveiling new designs from the team at Denver-based Rowland+Broughton (R+B).
“Together, the interior design and architectural work on these projects shows the extreme diversity and range of R+B’s Aspen and Denver studios, along with the skill and experience of our team,” says R+B principal Sarah Broughton, AIA.
The firm was an interior design partner for the renovation the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center. With an emphasis on establishing a sense of place, the facelift includes two new ballrooms with a motif of Rocky Mountain colors. 102,000 square feet of meeting and pre-function space received flexible furnishings to accommodate any event, thanks in part to a custom carpet with multiple textured layers to balance the light tones of the walls.
The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Park City – The Yarrow in Utah called on R+B to design the interiors and assist in the branding of the 124,000 square foot hotel. Local artist Venessa Gromek created a symbolic forest fashioned from climbing rope to surround guests in the lobby. Fluid patterns in hotel carpeting reflect a color palette inspired by the Wasatch Mountain Range, reminiscent of the mountain’s meadows. 182 guestrooms promote relaxation through the aesthetic qualities of a modern cabin.

Built more than a century ago, Hotel Boulderado in Boulder, Colorado, will receive a modernization from R+B reflected in a reimagined annex. An updated classic aesthetic will be used to highlight the hotel’s lobby and venue space while also maintaining its Victorian charm. The redesign is slated for completion prior to the University of Colorado Boulder’s 2016 commencement ceremony.
