Dream Hotel Group has tapped New York-based firm Rockwell Group to develop the concept for a new hotel in Hollywood with 179 guestrooms and suites, five dining and nightlife venues, and an 11,000-square-foot rooftop deck. Located at the corner of Selma Avenue and N. Cahuenga Boulevard, Dream Hollywood is set to open this summer.
“Hollywood is the perfect location for a Dream Hotel,” said David Rockwell, founder and president of Rockwell Group. “Inspired by many of the amazing surrounding houses we strove to capture the vibrant outdoor culture that is so unique to Los Angeles.”
Inspired by midcentury modern architecture, the hotel will feature strong, seamless visual connections between indoors and outdoors. The lobby is a double-height space that leads to a landscaped walkway that subtly guides guests towards the check-in and concierge area; at night, the lighting effects will mimic the shadows cast by the sun hitting trees.
Garden-inspired design elements abound, with strips of grass set between stone tile flooring, and divider walls that resemble trellises. Trellises and louvers are set in the ceilings of guestroom hallways, and are lit to suggest sunlight streaming through the slats.
Guestrooms will feature two color schemes—one inspired by sky, water, and white houses set against a desert backdrop, and the second by the hues of a sunset. The rooms themselves will feature patinated bronze shelving units to separate the bedroom and bathroom areas. Custom wallcoverings over the bed depict abstracted versions of iconic Los Angeles landscapes such as the freeway at night.
The presidential suite will feature floor-to-ceiling windows that offer expansive city views, as well as a dining bar area, a glass-enclosed daybed, a living room that can be transformed into a screening room, and a landscaped terrace.
The rooftop will host a nightlife venue with a retractable roof; a pool area that offers raised cabanas, two person chaises, a long daybed, and a firepit; and a café hidden in a secret garden area.
