Dream Hotel Group has completed a multimillion-dollar renovation at the Time Hotel in New York hotel, which is located in Times Square.
Headed by locally based Rockwell Group, the 193-key property includes an updated lobby and restaurant, as well as revamped guestrooms and 25 suites—all inspired by modern art and the concept of time.
“We are thrilled to have worked with Dream Hotel Group,” says Rockwell Group founder and president David Rockwell. “The project provided us with a wonderful opportunity to reimagine a brand, creating an environment that is intricately layered with art, craft, and technology, and is reflective of the growing number of creative industries in New York.”
The project is part of a reimagining for Time Hotels as an upper-upscale brand that centers on high-design spaces and forward-thinking F&B outlets. Locations will be developed in gateway cities, such as New York.
“Our Time Hotels flagship elevates the hospitality experience and sets a new standard for the lifestyle segment in New York City,” says Jay Stein, interim CEO of Dream Hotel Group. “Our friends and partners at Rockwell Group have created a welcoming and refined experience which will provide guests with a glimpse of what’s to come as we grow and develop the brand around the world.”
Accommodations now feature leather-upholstered beds beneath pendants of lens lights, which are designed to cast reflections on a wallcovering behind the bed that nods to crumpled paper. The consequential play on light and shadow turns the headboard into an art piece. Each room also features new wardrobes inspired by jewel cases and area rugs with watercolor-style patterns.
Renovated public spaces include an airy second-floor reception area, and a day lounge behind the elevator corridor that offers a communal worktable and nook window seating. Sculptural corset-style drapes in an adjacent bar area can be raised in the evening to blend the two spaces.
On the lower level near the entry, the hotel’s Serafina restaurant reinterprets a traditional Northern Italy-inspired palette with natural materials.
To leverage the Dream Hotels brand, former names Hampshire Hotels Management and Début Hotel Group have been retired. The change to Dream Hotel Group is intended to capitalize on the company’s most recognized assets to help raise awareness among guests, hotel owners, and hotel developers.
