This fall, European hotel group Room Mate Hotels is preparing to relaunch the Room Mate Grace in New York following an extensive redesign.
“Prior to the renovation, Grace already had an average occupancy [rate] of 97 percent—one of the highest in our portfolio,” says Enrique Sarasola, founder and CEO of Room Mate Hotels. “We’re so thrilled to launch our North American flagship hotel in New York. It’s a time of major growth for the Room Mate brand, with new properties in Malaga, Barcelona, Rotterdam, Milan, and Istanbul slated to launch in the next year. We look forward to growing further in the U.S., including Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago.”
Located near Times Square, the 139-room hotel features a boutique design influenced by the casual atmosphere of staying with a friend, and—following recent additions Room Mate Valentina in Mexico, and in Miami with the Room Mate Lord Balfour and Room Mate Waldorf Towers—serves as the brand’s fourth hotel in the Americas.
Spanish interior designer Lorenzo Castillo will head the renovation of Room Mate Grace, which will include the property’s lobby, bar, lounge areas, gym, and accommodations. A bold minimalistic design will highlight the spaces with metallic wallpaper with geometric and floral prints, colorful Spanish textiles, and gold cube-like side tables and wall installations from Portugal. Guests will also have access to an indoor pool and swim-up bar.
