The CMT Group of Taiwan has appointed Rosewood Hotels & Resorts to manage the forthcoming Rosewood Clearwater Bay, Hainan in China.
“We’re delighted to partner with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts on our first resort project in mainland China,” says Telvin Ju, CEO of the project division for CMT Group. “We look forward to introducing Hainan Island’s next level of luxury to discerning travelers from within China and internationally.”
Following the opening of Rosewood Beijing last October, the property will be the second Rosewood resort on Hainan Island and the fourth in mainland China.
“By topography, design, and intention, Rosewood Clearwater Bay will be a private and sophisticated sanctuary on the island,” says Sonia Cheng, CEO of Rosewood Hotel Group. “Its concept is timeless yet contemporary, melding strong architecture with breathtaking landscape.”
The resort will be constructed on a secluded bay with exclusive beach access. An abundance of water features, indigenous timber, stone, and unobstructed sightlines to the South China Sea will mirror the hotel’s natural surroundings.
Bangkok-based architectural firm Blink Design Group will conceive the property, while Singapore-based interior design company Jaya & Associates will design the guestrooms and public spaces. Bangkok-based TROP landscape architects will focus on site design.
Of the resort’s 116 villas, 95 will be low-rise buildings and include private elevators leading to two sky villas per floor, each with an outdoor terrace and some with a private pool. Meanwhile, 21 1,776-square-foot standalone beach villas will feature an arrival courtyard, garden, large private pool, and high privacy walls. A 7,481-square-foot, three-bedroom presidential villa will stand alone, and 47 villa residences will be available for purchase. All accommodations will directly connect to the beach via foliage-shadowed pathways.
The F&B program will feature a bistro, beachside grill and bar, and a high-end specialty restaurant. Additional amenities will include a 3,444-square-foot residential-style pavilion meeting and event space with outdoor function areas, the Sense spa with six treatment rooms, a gym, tennis court, a yoga deck, recreation center, lap pool, and children’s pool.
Rosewood Clearwater Bay, Hainan is slated to open in 2018, after Rosewood Sanya and Rosewood Guangzhou both slated for 2017. The Rosewood hotels and resorts collection currently includes 18 global properties and is expected to grow to 50 in operation by 2020.
