Dallas’ Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, the inaugural property in the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts portfolio, has emerged from an extensive refurbishment that elevates the property to an even higher standard of residential-style luxury. A collaboration between interior designer Thomas Pheasant and local architecture practice three, the project revived many of the property’s quintessential characteristics and infused it with a refreshed convivial style influenced by the city.
Originally constructed as a private estate in 1925, the mansion features architecture inspired by the 16th-century Italian Renaissance. Handcarved fireplaces, marble floors, and stained glass windows were meticulously restored to showcase the site’s heritage, while details like bookshelf niches in guestrooms and subtle carpet motifs demonstrate whimsy. An airy, newly designed rotunda serves as the lobby, welcoming guests to a bright atmosphere reminiscent of a glass conservatory with accents inspired by the estate’s original handcarved columns. Beneath a plaster dome, a cascading leaf-like design evokes Old World charms above custom contemporary furniture, wood paneling, and locally sourced decorative pieces.
Ranging from 450 to 2,650 square feet, all 142 accommodations were reimagined to showcase their original splendor alongside opulent details like French doors, petite balconies, and bold crown moldings. Photography captures distinctive Southern scenes against a soothing palette of purple, green, peach, and blue tones. Notes of cream and beige further instill tranquility, while high-end custom furnishings, millwork, textiles, and artwork establish a timeless flair. Mahogany paneling, white-washed oak floors, mirror-paneled double doors, and damask wallcoverings featuring satin brass and bronze accents round out the design details in each elegant chamber.
