London-based design firm Areen Design has completed the new Royal Suite at the Westin Palace Madrid. The grand, new accommodation comprises a master bedroom, a separate dining room, an oval-shaped living room, as well as a study, kitchenette, and powder room.
Located on the building’s fourth floor, the opulent suite overlooks Madrid’s iconic Prado Museum and the Neptune Fountain. The interior design is woven together with classical references blended with Spanish cultural influences and contemporary details. The suite’s striking architecture is accented by a cool palette of colors, while flamenco motifs appear across artwork, upholstery, and finishes. Flowing forms define the elegant furniture, which is illuminated by intricate lighting. Spread across more than 1,700 square feet, the space is further punctuated by nature-inspired imagery like the blossoms of Madrid’s almond trees.
“At Royal Suite, natural references are aligned with those echoed in the classic architectural details of the hotel, Madrid’s architecture and parks, and the Westin brand’s biophilic design principles,” says Andrew Linwood, Areen Design’s head of hospitality.
