Located just north of San Francisco in the town of Sausalito, the Inn Above Tide has completed its most extensive renovation to date, courtesy of locally based designer Antonio Martins. The latest redesign comprises the redesign of three new suites and reimagined public spaces. Julie Coyle of locally based Coyle Art Associates led the update of the property’s art collection.
The new 1,000-square-foot Founder’s suite totals one-and-a-half bathrooms, a full kitchen, private patio, and an open dining and living room. Gray, silk-printed wallpaper depicts a school of fish as a whimsical accent to the clean, modern interiors defined by hardwood floors and midcentury furniture. Appointed with an eight- to 14-person dining room table, the space is easily converted into an indoor-outdoor meeting room. A soaking tub and rainwater shower are installed in the bathroom, which is crafted with carved stone tiles and gray, green, and black stone floors that further reflect the seaside influence.
Located adjacent to the Founder’s suite, the City Lights suite spans 720 square feet and features a lounge area, private patio, built-in king bed, and indoor-outdoor glass fireplace. The suite also includes gray silk wallpaper with a pattern of painterly birds. Located upstairs, the reimagined Vista Suite welcomes visitors with a new private entrance that includes a courtyard and expansive patio. The 635-square-foot corner suite continues the aquatic theme with blue wallpaper, while an intimate dining table and four-poster king bed anchor the modern space. Large-scale furniture and abstract black and white carpeting are also installed.
