The AMARA Hotel has opened in the beachside town of Limassol, Cyprus with a design from SB Architects, in collaboration with the New York-based Rockwell Group.
Comprising 207 guestrooms, nine apartments, and 14 villas that overlook the Mediterranean Sea, the resort incorporates indigenous building materials and vegetation throughout.
Rockwell Group conceived a zen-like space with details including locally made sculptures and tranquil water features paired with wooden columns. The onsite spa is housed within remnants of an ancient wall and well spring, which were discovered during the excavation of the project. In addition, Rockwell Group handled the Japanese-Peruvian restaurant Matsuhisa Limassol by chef Nobu Matsuhisa and open-air concept Armyra by Papioannou.
Designed by SB Architects, the delicate shell-like structure the rooftop bar frames views of the Mediterranean sea with interiors designed by New York firm Wilson Associates.
