The Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo in Sri Lanka will return this November following an extensive overhaul. The second Sri Lankan property to join the luxury Asian hospitality group, the hotel will feature a design from Singapore-based architecture firm Chao Tse Ann & Partners as well as Singapore- and UAE-based interior practices LTW Designworks and Bond Interiors.
Framing views of the Indian Ocean, the property houses 500 guestrooms and 41 serviced suites, all of which embrace a contemporary style that also reflects Shangri-La’s eclectic, Asian elegance. Commissioned work from Chinese artist Man Fung-Yi includes a life-sized metal sculpture of a baby elephant in the lobby. In addition, the property include five restaurants, bars, and lounges along with a 24-hour fitness center, swimming pool, pool bar, and the CHI, the Spa, which will host nine treatment rooms. Included among 48,438 square feet of event spaces will be two ballrooms, an outdoor lawn, and multiple function spaces.
The hotel is also situated on 10 acres of land that will boast an office tower, two residential buildings, and an upscale shopping mall.
