Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts plans to open its newest China property, the Shangri-La Hotel, Qinhuangdao, tomorrow.
The hotel is located along Bohai Bay in Qinhuangdao, a small seaside city in the Haigang District. Its location a 15 minute drive from a train station will allow guests fast access to major cities such as Tianjin and Beijing. In addition to the Olympic Center, National Forest Park, and Xin’ao Marine World, the historic city contains remnants of the eastern end of the Great Wall of China and is 35 minutes away from Shanhaiguan Airport.
The 23-story hotel—the largest in the city—will be developed in the Golden Dream Bay residential and entertainment zone. Interiors feature plum blossom-inspired design in elements such as art and light installations, carpet patterns, and embellished headboards in the guestrooms. Golden tones and cream hues will highlight each of the 330 guestrooms and suites. Full-length windows will shed natural light on the rooms’ contrasting use of light and dark wood, with bathrooms will be clad in marble. Most rooms will include a balcony overlooking Bohai Bay.
Guests can choose from dining options such as Café Qin, which seats 60 people for alfresco gatherings. Dark ebony paneling and maroon upholstery will figure prominently in the contemporary Qin Xiang Ge Chinese restaurant, which will have 15 private rooms. Lighter meals and live music will be available at the lobby lounge.
Amenities will include an 82-foot indoor free-form pool, fully equipped gym, Jacuzzi, spa with nine treatment rooms, bicycle rentals, 10 function rooms, and a 17,846-square-foot grand ballroom.
