Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has renovated Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, located on the east coast of Mauritius.
The 200-room property, which comprises a number of low-rise buildings, features light-filled spaces with wood accents, hand-dyed linens, and the brand’s signature Asian-inspired aesthetic. Contemporary furnishings throughout were crafted from a variety of organic and recycled materials.
Three beach villas, which each span approximately 4,550 square feet, feature a separate entrance, three bedrooms, an infinity pool, private beach access, and a dedicated electric car for onsite transportation.
The property’s three guest wings—dubbed Coral, Hibiscus, and Frangipani—include guestrooms and suites overlooking the Indian Ocean. While all accommodations come with a private balcony or terrace, the Coral wing’s Deluxe Beach Access and Deluxe Ocean View guestrooms, as well as the Hibiscus wing’s Deluxe guestrooms and junior suites, are directly located on the beach. The Frangipani wing, meanwhile, sits on a bridge-accessible islet. Exclusive guest amenities here include a pool and the modern Republik Beach Club & Grill, which features an artful aesthetic and a bohemian beach lounge with fireplaces and daybeds.
Additional F&B outlets include Le Bazar, which boasts show kitchens, a noodle bar, and an al fresco terrace; Kushi, a Japanese restaurant with ocean views on all sides, an installation made from its namesake kushi combs used by geisha, and tables with built-in grills, or yakiniku; Safran, an Indian restaurant with Mauritian influences and a copper-clad tandoori oven; and Sega bar, an entertainment venue with a stage built over a pool.
Other amenities include access to Ilot Mangenie, a private two-mile island; the new CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La, which boasts eight treatment rooms, two pools, an 18-hole par 72 championship golf course located with other sporting activities on Ile aux Cerfs island; and the T-Club kids concept.
