London-based design practice Sheppard Robson made its proposal for the new hotel and mixed-use concept at the city’s forthcoming Cultural Mile, which aims to regenerate the Smithfield area of London.
Standing out with the largest green wall installation in Europe with the capacity of capturing eight tones of carbon annually at nearly 40,000 square feet, the innovative project is conceived with the fresh idea about how the built environments can address crucial issues such as the air pollution.
“Rather than having an isolated patch of greenery, we felt that an integrated approach would have the biggest impact on the local environmental conditions,” says Dan Burr, partner at Sheppard Robson. Wrapped in vertical landscaping, the fresh concept will feature 382 accommodations, a 40,000 square feet of workspace, an elevated bar concept on its 10th floor, spa, meeting rooms, distinct F&B venues, in addition to viewing gallery on the rooftop.
