Starwood Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement to open its first W Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip at the SLS Las Vegas.
Starwood will take over management of SLS’ existing 289-room LUX Tower when it is converted to the W brand, while the remaining two towers will become part of Starwood’s Tribute Portfolio and continue to be managed by Kreeger. The SLS Las Vegas is owned by Las Vegas Resort Holdings.
“SLS Las Vegas…is a milestone addition to Starwood, growing our total footprint worldwide by nearly half a percent with a single signing,” says Adam Aron, interim CEO of Starwood Hotels & Resorts. “It also allows us to debut our iconic W brand on the world famous Las Vegas Strip.”
Slated for completion next year, the W Las Vegas project will include the W Living Room lobby concept, a hotel-specific entrance, more than 14,500 square feet of W-branded meeting and event space, a spa, fitness center, as well as an outdoor pool deck and bar.
Gensler collaborated with designer Philippe Starck to conceive the SLS Las Vegas, which opened last year and comprises 1,613 guestrooms including 120 suites. Amenities include eight F&B outlets that include Bazaar Meat by José Andrés and Katsuya by Starck, three nightlife and entertainment venues, two pools, 80,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, and a 54,000-square-foot casino that also offers a William Hill sports book.
SLS Las Vegas will increase Starwood’s local portfolio to five hotels, which include the Westin Las Vegas Hotel, Casino & Spa; the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa; Four Points by Sheraton Las Vegas East Flamingo; and Element Las Vegas Summerlin.
