Celebrity soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo has partnered with Portugal-based Pestana Hotel Group (PHG) to launch four new boutique hotels.
To be managed by PHG, the joint venture will be co-owned by Ronaldo and PHG owner and chairman Dionísio Pestana.
Approximately $82 million will be invested in the hotels, which will take inspiration from Ronaldo’s CR7 brand.
Designed with millennial travelers in mind, the four hotels will together encompass 400 guestrooms, with the first hotel slated to open next summer in Funchal, Portugal, located on the island of Madeira. A second will open later in 2016 in Lisbon, while the remaining two will open in 2017—one located in Madrid’s Gran Vía shopping district and the other near Times Square in New York.
With the new openings, PHG will grow to more than 90 hotels across 16 countries.
